The Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair organizers put the Casey Anthony Dunking Booth front and center at the fair. It was one of the first games fairgoers see when they walk in through the main gates, reports CBS affiliate WKYT.
The booth was removed Tuesday and the Lions Club issued a statement saying it wanted to respect "growing public sentiment" about the booth, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Fair Chairman Ron Mossotti said an event management company presented the idea of the dunking booth and it seemed like a good idea at the time. But Mossotti says it became a distraction from the purpose of the fair.
The Casey Anthony case received national attention since Anthony's daughter Caylee went missing in 2008. Anthony, 25, was recently acquitted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter and released from jail early Sunday.
