"Carrie" remake pushed to October release date

Moviegoers will have to wait a little longer before seeing the upcoming remake of "Carrie" -- seven months, to be exact.

The film, starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore, was originally scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 15, 2013, but IndieWire reports that the release date has been delayed until Oct. 18.

No reason was given for the date change, according to IndieWire, but it's worth noting that the new date is much closer to Halloween, when audiences may be looking for scares.

The new release date means two movies starring Moore will be opening on the same day -- "The Seventh Son," a fantasy film starring her and Jeff Bridges, is also set to debut on Oct. 18. That is also the release date slated for the Robert De Niro film "Malavita."
