Carole King to write memoir
(CBS) Singer-songwriter Carole King is planning to tell her story - without music - in a book, "A Natural Woman," scheduled for publication next April.
The memoir will chart Grammy winner King's story from her beginnings in Brooklyn to her rise to the top of the U.S. album charts through to her current role as environmental and political activist. Grand Central Publishing is releasing the book.
The title comes from one of the songs written by the 69-year-old King, whose album "Tapestry" has sold more than 10 million copies in the U.S. King also wrote songs such as "Up on the Roof" and "You've Got a Friend" for other artists.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for songwriting, King has made 25 albums. Her latest project is a collaboration with long-time friend James Taylor.
