Car Crash In N.Y. Restaurant

A woman driving out of a midtown Manhattan parking garage on Thursday evening lost control of her car and smashed through the front of a restaurant, killing one person and injuring more than 20 others.

"People were sprawled all over," said firefighter Brian Kearney. "It was unbelievable. It's the worst I've ever seen."

The Mercedes-Benz, driven by Marcia Feltingoff, 51, of West New York, N.J., accelerated suddenly and plowed through Arno, striking patrons before coming to a rest against the restaurant's rear wall, police said.

"She came through the barrier ... then, like out of a movie, went through the front of the restaurant," said witness Mike McCormack.

It was unclear what caused the accident and there were no immediate arrests.

Cirel Trucl, 62, of New Jersey, was pronounced dead after suffering a heart attack and head wounds. Seventeen of the injured patrons were transported to hospitals for treatment.

Ms. Feltingoff suffered minor injuries.
