Can a Snack Improve Your Productivity?

apples.jpgLifehack.org lists 20 snacks you can munch on to improve your eyesight, boost your energy level, and increase your overall performance. Truth or bunk? Check out these examples:

  • Avocados. These keep you from bloating up after a big lunch and are tasty either on their own, with sugar or salt on top, or with your salad.
  • Almonds. Great for brainpower. Read more here.
  • Raisins. Want more energy? Grab a pack of raisins. They are high in energy and antioxidants, and low in fat and calories.
Admittedly, these are healthy foods, but can they improve your productivity? I'd argue no, unless you couple them with a brisk 10-minute walk, which will almost certainly refresh your brain and give you an energy lift.

That said, they're definitely better than typical snack foods: chips, pretzels, candy bars, grande cafe mochas, and so on. Conspicuously absent from the list: apples! If there's a better snack than that, I haven't found it. Photo by Zanoza.
