"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"

The makers of the Call of Duty series decided to focus on modern conflicts rather than WWII. "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" centers around a fictional plot set in modern times. Your aim is to prevent terrorists from acquiring a nuclear weapon thus bring death and chaos to the world. The story alternates between two roles that of a British SAS soldier in Russia and a US Marine fighting in the Middle East.

The graphics on the PS3 are award winning. Developers really focused on bringing this game to life, and they did. The presentation is done in such a great cinematic format the battlefield comes to life. The views and camera angles guide you thorough the intense combat. Detail is contained in virtually every aspect. Nighttime missions that require night vision goggles offer a flawless presentation. If you're using the SOPMOD M4 rifle you can see the traces from your illuminator which is cool.

Modern Warfare is complete with new currently fielded military weapons featuring realistic scopes for added visual range. The actual single player mode is over in a rush. Just like Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter you can breeze through the game in a few hours which is a sore point. Thankfully you can replay the missions on a harder difficulty.

As in the past with previous Call of Duty titles, the controls are straightforward and easy to learn. Likewise, the instant melee attack is brought back, though I hardly find myself getting that close to the enemy to use it. Enemy AI is quite good. In most all engagements the enemy forces know when to take cover and when to pop up to return a few rounds. Even allies have great AI.

On room clearings, your squad members often lead the charge in a very professional and choreographed manor often killing enemies attacking you. Infinity Ward has got this part right. Similarly, there is hardly a lull in action. Constant firefights keep the action going on each mission. As in previous Call of Duty games, at certain points during each mission an auto save occurs so if in case you die you can

Modern Warfare is available for multiplayer online play. It offers up to 18 players, and 16 different maps to choose from. You can play in various formats including the obvious deathmatch. Infinity Ward has also sprinkled in some incentives during online play. For instance if you kill three enemies without dying you gain access to a UAV drone. If you get up to five kills then you gain access to air strikes on the battlefield.

I highly recommend "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" for shooter fans. The presentation is so amazing I'm left speechless. It is definitely a fun game and the multiplayer portion makes the combat even more fun. Check out more in game screenshots here.

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" is rated "M" for Mature (Content suitable for ages 17 or older) and is available for Xbox 360, Windows PC and PS3 computer entertainment system. The game is also be available for Nintendo DS and has been rated "T" for Teen.
