FAIRFIELD, California - A vintage tank ran over and killed a man near Fairfield, California, Saturday afternoon, according to CBS Sacramento.

The accident happened on a private open field near Abernathy Road, west of Fairfield, a little before 2:30 p.m., authorities said.

California Highway Patrol says two men were riding in a 1944 M5 tank when the vehicle started going downhill. One of the men sitting on the front edge of the tank then fell off and was run over.

Emergency crews were called to the scene, but the 55-year-old man was soon pronounced dead.

According to KTXL, property records show the land where the accident occurred belongs to Jelly Belly CEO Herman Rowland. Police said the accident took place during a family reunion party.

The man has not been identified, but the driver of the tank has been identified as 62-year-old Vacaville resident Dwayne Brasher.

CHP is still investigating the incident.
