Calif. college student allegedly stabbed roommate, cut self

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - A college student has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing and wounding his roommate in their dormitory at Santa Clara University in Northern California.

Santa Clara police Lt. Kurt Clarke says 19-year-old Dillon Kim stabbed his roommate multiple times with a knife about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Clarke says Kim then apparently cut himself on the neck. A mug shot of Kim shows a wound wrapping around his neck with stitches.

Police say the victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover. The student's name wasn't released.

Authorities have not mentioned a motive. Kim was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held without bail.

He is due in court Thursday morning.
