Calif. woman beat up thieves who stole her jet skis, report says
(CBS) SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A Sacramento woman chased down the thieves who allegedly stole her two jet skis and beat them up, CBS Sacramento reports.
Robin Cardenas, who was recently forced into a homeless shelter after losing her job, was left with only a few possessions, including her SUV and two jet skis, gifts from her late parents, according to the station.
On Sunday, she noticed the jet skis and their trailer were gone. Cardenas told CBS Sacramento that she noticed a trail of water on the ground that she figured must have come from rain water pooled on the jet skis.
"So I just followed that water," she said.
The water ultimately led Cardenas to a gas station a half a mile away where she found her jet skis attached to another truck with a man and woman inside, CBS Sacramento reports.
When the man tried to drive off, Cardenas said she started kicking, fighting, and pulling everything she could out of the car.
"I'm not a fighter," she told CBS Sacramento. "I just went crazy," she said.
"Finally he said, 'OK, OK, OK, we'll unhook them.'"
According to the station, a store clerk called 911 but the two suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived.
