Byrd To Remain Hospitalized For Several More Days
Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.Va.) will remain hospitalized for several more days after falling ill with a fever Monday night and checking in to a local hospital for observation.
The senator is being monitored and given antibiotics for a “mild infection,” his spokesman, Jesse Jacobs, said Tuesday. “Byrd is alert, talking with staff and in good spirits and looks forward to getting back to work as soon as possible.”
The 90-year-old senator is president pro tempore of the Senate and chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
