Byrd Supports Iraq Agreement

Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and a vocal opponent of the Iraq war, offered his support today for the pending Iraq funding deal between Democratic leaders and the White House.

"I am pleased with the progress that we are making on this legislation. Congress remains on track to meet the goal of sending the President new legislation before the end of the week," Byrd said in a statement released by his office.
