Buzz Briefs: Walters Vs. Mills McCartney
Walters Unloads On Mills McCartney
On "The View" Monday, Barbara Walters was moved to speak out about Heather Mills McCartney's recent meltdown about her portrayal in the media.
"This picture of her as being poor little me is something we did not feel while doing this interview," Walters said.
Walters said she did two interviews with Mills McCartney and during the first interview was touched by the former model's struggle after losing her leg in a car accident. After the second interview her impression changed. Walters said Mills McCartney complained that the water she was given to drink was not "room temperature."
"She was extremely difficult," Walters said. "She was so impossible to our producers. You know, pick on me, you don't pick on the other people. … All we thought was, this is not a very nice woman."
After that interview, Walters said Paul McCartney, who was dating Mills McCartney at the time, overheard Walters call Mills McCartney "a tough woman." The former Beatle told Walters that he likes tough women.
"It seems to me that when you marry a man like Paul McCartney, who had a wonderful marriage for many years, who loves you and does not have a premarital agreement because he had some trust, you should get up everyday and say … ," Walters threw her hands in the air and looked skyward, "you know, whatever."

Stephen Colbert Drops Presidential Bid
Stephen Colbert has dropped his bid for the White House after the South Carolina Democratic Executive Council voted last week to keep the host of "The Colbert Report" off the state's primary ballot. The vote was 13-3.
"Although I lost by the slimmest margin in presidential election history - only 10 votes - I have chosen not to put the country through another agonizing Supreme Court battle," Colbert said Monday in a statement. "It is time for this nation to heal."
Colbert had said he would run only in his native South Carolina, a key primary state. He said he planned to run as a Democrat and a Republican - so he could lose twice. Colbert, 43, later declined to file with the GOP, which has a much higher filing fee ($35,000) than the Democrats ($2,500).
"I want to say to my supporters, this is not over," Colbert said. "While I may accept the decision of the Council, the fight goes on! The dream endures! ... And I am going off the air until I can talk about this without weeping."
