Buzz Briefs: Chris Brown, Cate Blanchett
Chris Brown Dishes Love Lessons
Chris Brown, hip-hop and R&B heartthrob, is only 18, but he has a lot of advice to give. In "Seventeen" magazine's November issue, which features singer Carrie Underwood on the cover, Brown offers tips to women on how to snag a man.
Brown's top five slices of advice include "play the field," "laugh it off," "stay low-key," "tell the truth" and "skip the library" - or any place where you wouldn't have something in common with someone else on a quest to find your type.
The star's words of wisdom involve taking your time to find your best match, don't settle for just anyone, if you tell a corny joke and it doesn't work just laugh it off, be honest, and keep it real when you go on the prowl.

Cate Blanchett Puts Her Best Face Forward
After using the beauty care line for seven years to keep her skin in its famously good shape, Blanchett has been hired as the high-end personal-care product's new U.S. face.
SK-11 products, which are made by Procter & Gamble Co., sell for $60 and $300. They are available in a dozen countries, most of them in Asia, and in a few U.S. department stores.
Blanchett, who previously represented the brand in Australia, said she began using the brand because her skin required extra attention during movie assignments that demanded heavy makeup application.
"I'm evangelical about it," she said.
Britney Spears is learning that no amount of money can erase a criminal record, which includes driving without a license. Spears avoided a criminal hit-and-run trial by paying for damages in a fender-bender, but still faces a charge of driving without a license, a court commissioner ruled Thursday.
Spears was not required to attend the hearing on misdemeanor charges stemming from an Aug. 6 parking lot mishap.
Superior Court Commission Susan Speer dismissed the hit-and-run charge after a lawyer for the pop star said his client had paid an undisclosed amount to a woman whose car was hit in a Studio City parking lot.
A charge of driving without a license was not dismissed and a pretrial hearing was scheduled for Nov. 26. The commissioner accepted a not guilty plea entered on Spears' behalf by lawyer Michael Flanagan to that charge.

Earlier this week, Hulk Hogan's son, Nick Bollea, said on his Web site that the camera company Polaroid is sponsoring his race car team, the Polaroid Drift team. Not so fast, says Polaroid.
Bollea was in a serious car accident caused by excessive speed. He was driving, and his passenger John Graziano, a 22-year-old Marine who served in Iraq, suffered brain damage.
Polaroid's vice president of marketing, Cheryl Mau told The Tampa Tribune that Bollea was mistaken about her company's sponsorship, but the 17-year-old star of "Hogan Knows Best" seemed pretty sure of it when he boasted about it on his MySpace blog.
"I picked up a new title sponsor…POLAROID! and started my own team with twin 350z's pretty cool i know," he wrote.
5Kid Rock Tells Ellen About Waffle Brawl
Kid Rock spoke to Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show Thursday about the jam he got into at the Waffle House last week.
"It started with me celebrating a great show that night. We were hungry," he said. "It was late at night. We had been doing some drinking and we went and I actually walked in. I know the people work hard at Waffle House so I tipped people behind the counter and gave $300 (for them) to split up. "
Rock said he bought breakfast for everyone there and was having a great time when the trouble started.
"This one kid just started talking," he said. "At one point, I'm like, you know, hey, it's cool. I'm going to buy you breakfast. And then one thing led to another, windows were breaking, cussing and fussing ... the mud, the blood, and the beer."
"Do you think people sometimes just look for trouble with you, cause they think, 'Oh, I want to mess with him?' " DeGeneres asked.
"He said, 'I hope you get mad, I'll sue the hell out of you.' I'm like, 'Take a number'."
Rock said he believes in standing up for things, but added "being honest sometimes gets me in a little bit of trouble."

Lohan settled his long-simmering divorce with wife Dina in August, and reunited with Lindsay in September after a 3-year absence.

Maria Shriver Will Not Return To NBC News
Originally disgusted with how the media handled the death of Anna Nicole Smith, Maria Shriver now says she's disgusted with journalism altogether.
Shriver, speaking Tuesday at the annual California Governor and First Lady's Conference on Women in Long Beach, Calif., said that she will not resume her TV news career, citing her displeasure with the media frenzy that surrounded the former Playboy Playmate's accidental drug overdose in February.
"It was then that I knew that the TV news business had changed and so had I," she said. "I called NBC News and told them I'm not coming back."
Shriver took an extended leave from work in 2003 when husband Arnold Schwarzenegger ran for governor in 2003. After he won the election, she made two appearances as an anchor for "Dateline NBC."Photos: Rest In Peace, Anna Nicole
TV Host Gary Collins Sent Packing To Jail
TV host and actor Gary Collins was thrown into the slammer on Tuesday for investigation of driving under the influence after a crash that police blamed on another driver, an 89-year-old man.
Collins, 69, was arrested in San Fernando Valley, Calif., but was later released on $40,000 bond, authorities said.
"He was not at fault in the accident," Officer April Harding said. "The other motorist failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with Collins' vehicle."Photos: Celebrity Mug Shots
The actor's sports utility vehicle subsequently crashed into two parked cars, Harding said.
"Officers smelled alcohol on his breath and initiated a field sobriety test, which he failed," she said.
Collins was not hurt in the crash. The other driver was taken to a hospital for examination of unspecified injuries.
The investigation was ongoing, Harding said.
Joe Francis Takes His Legal Problems Online
"Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis, who has been sitting in a cell inside a Nevada jail since April, has jumpstarted an ad campaign to call attention to his never-ending legal woes.
"Marketing is what I do best," Francis, 34, told The Associated Press.
Francis, who makes at least $29 million a year from his videos that show young women baring their bodies in sexually provocative situations, was thrown into prison because he was cited for contempt after yelling at attorneys during mediation in a federal lawsuit brought by women who were underage when his production company filmed them in 2003.
That lawsuit has since been settled, but Francis' bond was revoked on criminal charges related to the 2003 filming when he was charged with having contraband $700 and prescription anti-anxiety medication in a Florida jail.
Federal officials then extradited him to Nevada to face tax evasion charges.
