(CBS) TORONTO - What does a folk art-like butter sculpture have to say about American politics?

Quite a lot, according to British director Jim Field Smith, whose "Butter" was shown at the Toronto film festival this week.

To celebrate the movie, the Weinstein Co. hired a buxom Toronto lass in a Heidi costume to carve water bottles (for the party's sponsor) out of butter bricks.

A story of ambtion and no-holds-barred ladder climbing, the comedy stars Jennifer Garner as Laura Pickler, a woman who uses her butter-sculpting prowess as a stepping stone to the governor's mansion.

According to a Reuters report, reviewers have been making comparisons to everyone from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to Michele Bachmann.
