Burger King worker outsmarts armed robbers, hides getaway car, police say

CBS Sacramento

(CBS) STOCKTON, Calif. - A Burger King employee outsmarted two robbery suspects when he left the restaurant through the back door and hid their getaway car, reports CBS Sacramento.

Stockton police reportedly said they've never seen anything like this before.

The two suspects went inside the fast food restaurant, pulled their guns and asked for money.

While the two men were robbing the cashier, another employee sneaked out the back and noticed there was a car running. The employee reportedly got in the vehicle, drove it around the corner and hid it.

According to CBS Sacramento, a police officer said "I haven't heard of any employee actually leaving a business, getting inside the suspect vehicle and trying to hide it."

The station reports that both suspects, Gabriel Gonzalez and Jeremy Lovitt, panicked when they didn't find their car outside. They fled to a nearby field and officers arrested them there.

CBS Sacramento added that even though the robbery ended the right way, it is always advised that people being robbed comply for their own safety.
