It is the fourth number one single for Spears, which makes her the second artist in Billboard's 52-year history to have more than one track debut at the top spot in its first week, according to Billboard.

Spears previously led the charts with 2009's "3," "Womanizer" in 2008 and "...Baby One More Time" in 2009

Mariah Carey is the only other artist to have had more than one No. 1 first weeks.  She debuted at the top in 1995 for  "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" and in 1997 for "Honey."

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Spear's new single, off her upcoming seventh album, sold 411,000 digtial downloads, beating out Taylor Swift's 2010 record of 325,000 downloads for "Today Was a Fairytale."
