Britain's Bobby Long: Modern-day Bob Dylan?

When you are compared to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the "Boss," and you helped pen a song that was sung by Robert Pattinson in the 2008 blockbuster hit "Twilight," you can consider yourself on the path to success.

This has been the case for British singer-songwriter Bobby Long, whose "hauntingly poetic lyrics" and raw talent have brought him to the forefront of the folk and blues genre.

The "Twilight" soundtrack helped launch his career, featuring the song "Let Me Sign," which was co-written by Long and Marcus Foster and won Best Soundtrack at the 37th Annual American Music Awards in 2009.

Now, with the help of White Stripes' producer Liam Watson, Long's first studio album, "A Winter Tale," has received rave reviews, as well.

According to his official website, the album "merges band power with acoustic rawness, featuring Nona Hendryx (LaBelle) on backing vocals on "Penance Fire Blues," B. J. Cole (Elton John, Sting) on pedal steel, Icelandic singer Lay Low on several tracks, and other top-drawer musicians."

Long stopped by "The Early Show on Saturday Morning" for our "Second Cup Cafe" to perform "Who Have You Been Loving" and "Dead & Done."

Not only is Long musically inclined, he's quite the brain!

The 25-year-old is also a skilled guitarist and a graduate of London's Metropolitan University, where he studied Music in Film. He even wrote his thesis on "The Social Impact of American Folk Music."

While Long now resides in New York City, he has country roots in England.

Born near Manchester, England, Bobby grew up (from age four) in a small town in Wessex. He learned how to play guitar at age 17 and at age 18 he moved to London to attend university. While in London, he attended local mic nights and met a circle of fellow musicians, which included Foster and Pattinson before he was cast in the mega hit "Twilight" series. Moral of the story - never underestimate the power of open mic night.
