Bringing A Creek Back To Life

With a little hard work, a group of California high school students were able to bring something dead back to life.

Fifteen years ago, Adobe Creek was just a dry gully. No fish could live there because there was no water. The city had cut it off.

So a teacher named Tom Furrer put his students to work. As a science project, they cleared out trash, planted trees, and got Adobe Creek's water supply reconnected. In a few years, this creek—once dead—came alive again. There are even fish there now.

"I wanted to show them if you work together you can make a positive difference," Furrer said.

"It's about us wanting to make the world we live in a better place," added one student.

They've sure made a difference for Adobe Creek.
