(CBS/AP) TAMPA, Fla. - A 22-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the head Wednesday at their Tampa apartment, according to CBS affiliate WTSP.

The station reports Tampa police identified the suspect as Jamar Anjuan Silas, who was arrested after a brief car chase with police.

When responding to a call, authorities reportedly found 8-months-pregnant Brianna Anderson with a gunshot wound to the head.

The baby was delivered via cesarean section at the Tampa General Hospital. The 22-year-old mother was later pronounced dead, according to the station.

The baby was listed in stable condition late Wednesday.

Silas has been charged as a felon in possession of a gun and Tampa police say more charges are expected.
