Boy, 15, Impaled By Javelin in Calif. Park

Authorities say a 15-year-old boy has been impaled by a javelin in a Pomona park.

Witnesses say a group of boys found the javelin in some bushes in front of Westmont Park Community Center. They had just thrown it when the victim ran around the corner of the building, reports CBS News affiliate KCAL in Los Angeles.

Daniel Hearn said he saw the teen running toward the javelin and fall to his knees after he was injured.

He says the boy tripped and the javelin entered near his hip and came out through his buttocks.

Other witnesses at the scene said the teen seemed like he was in shock as he grabbed the javelin with both hands and pulled it out.

Police took an accident report but nobody was cited or arrested.

There's no immediate word on his condition Monday.

The boy's name was not released.
