“Does it really build your confidence when you see a candidate not able to do two or three things at once?” Boxer asked during an interview on Fox. “That's what presidents do. You don't get to have a time out.”
“Sometimes we have more than one crisis at a time. Sometimes we might have an earthquake in California, a horrific storm somewhere else, a foreign crisis, two wars -- like we have going on now -- and yes, a problem in the marketplace. But I have to tell you we don't want a president that just says I can only do this,” she said.
“In our world -- and even in a Senate office, you don't do one thing at a time.”
Boxer dismissed the idea that McCain’s presence on Washington would somehow help move along the $700 billion bailout being worked out on Capitol Hill.
“We're all senators. They're senators. I'm a senator. I've been working on this nonstop. I'm sure that Barack and John have as well. The fact of the matter is we need this debate now. This has been in the works for a year,” Boxer said.
“So I think it's outrageous,” the California Democrat added. “It’s ridiculous.”
