Boost Your Wireless Signal
A couple of days ago, Rick brought news of the WAAV AirBox CM3, which is basically a hotspot-in-a-box. If you're already near a hotspot (say, one in a neighboring building), though, sometimes all you need is a boost. Enter the $80 Wi-Fire, a tiny, portable usb device that Gizmodo vouches will allow you to connect to wireless hubs over 1,000 feet away. There are versions for Macs and Windows, and even Linux, if you're tempted to buy the $200 Wal-Mart Ubuntu box. (I know I am.)
