Bonny Cooner WGCL

(CBS/AP) CANON, Ga. - A body found in an abandoned well  near Canon, Ga., has been positively identified as 33-year-old Bonny Anne Cooner, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said.

Cooner's body was found Saturday evening at the bottom of a well about three miles from her home in Canon, about 35 miles north of Athens. Kris Sperry, the state's chief medical examiner, ruled that Cooner died of strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head.

Cooner's boyfriend, Brent Shubert, has been arrested in connection with her death. Shubert is charged with murder, aggravated assault and concealing a death.

Bankhead says Shubert was arrested without incident in Anderson, S.C., and is awaiting extradition to Georgia where he could face additional charges.
