Body found in Minnesota identified as missing college student
MINNEAPOLIS --A medical examiner has confirmed that a woman's body discovered in northwestern Minnesota Monday afternoon is missing college student Laura Ann Schwendemann, reports CBS Minnesota.
Schwendemann was seen on surveillance video recorded Oct. 14 at a gas station in Alexandria, Minn., with a man police say she knew. Detectives have interviewed that man, and he is a person of interest in the case, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
His identity has not been released by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Police have said they do not believe Schwendemann, 18, left the gas station voluntarily.
Schwendemann's body was found about 15 miles southeast of Alexandria, where the teen was last seen. The remains were discovered by a farmer who was harvesting a field in Orange Township.
Schwendemann was a freshman at the University of Minnesota, Morris. Police say they believe she and the man traveled throughout southern Douglas County and northern Pope County the night of her disappearance and into the next morning.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 320-762-8151.
