Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston's ex-husband, arrested on suspicion of DUI

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Officials in Southern California say singer Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of the late Whitney Houston, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The California Highway Patrol told CBS News Brown also got a ticket for using his cellphone while driving.

CHIPs Officer Mike Harris says Brown, 43, as arrested around 12:20 p.m. Monday in the San Fernando Valley north of Los Angeles. He failed a field sobriety test.

Harris says an officer initially pulled over the R&B singer after seeing him talking on his cellphone without a hand-free unit. Harris says the officer observed that Brown appeared to be impaired.

Los Angeles police told CBS News Brown was released on his own recognizance.
