California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Harris says Brown was arrested around 12:20 p.m. Monday after he failed a field sobriety test.

Harris says the R&B singer was pulled over after an officer saw him talking on his cellphone without a hand- free unit and noticed he appeared to be impaired.

Brown was released at 2 p.m. on Monday, officials told CBS station KCBS.

The 43-year-old New Edition singer and Houston have a 19-year-old daughter together, Bobbi Kristina.
