Blunt Named To House Foreign Affairs Committee
Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) will rejoin the House Foreign Affairs Committee, temporarily filling the seat vacated by Rep. Jo Ann Davis.
Davis, a Virginia Republican, died of breast cancer last week.
“I’m proud to be returning to the Foreign Affairs Committee, but saddened by the circumstances that have made this return possible,” Blunt said in a statement.
“Over the next several weeks, I will be occupying the seat left vacant by our dear friend and respected colleague Jo Ann Davis, until a permanent replacement is chosen.”
Blunt, who joined the panel in 1997 only to take a leave of absence after he was named minority whip, will be the ninth-most senior member on the Republican side.
