Blazers Surge By Clippers In OT


Brian Grant scored eight points in overtime, all free throws, to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 106-96 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday.

The Clippers' Lorenzen Wright hit two free throws with four-tenths of a second left in regulation to send the game into overtime. After Portland's Greg Anthony hit only one of two free throws with 1.5 seconds left to give the Blazers a 91-89 lead, he fouled Wright on the inbounds pass to the top of the key in Portland's half of the court.

  • Los Angeles had led by as many as 17 points in the third quarter, but the Trail Blazers rallied to take a 90-87 lead with 14.2 seconds left in regulation. After Eric Piatkowski scored on a layup for the Clippers, Anthony hit his free throw.

    Grant finished with a season-high 25 points as Portland. Lamond Murray led the Clippers with 18 points.
