Blair Captures His Career in Autobiography

Tony Blair's publisher says his long-awaited memoir will give a candid account of his 10 years as Britain's prime minister and be published in September.

Gail Rebuck of Random House on Thursday said "The Journey" will be "frank, open, revealing" and disclose the human emotions behind the former leader's time in office.

Blair led Britain from 1997 to 2007. He says he hopes his book will "shape current and future thinking" as much as explaining events such as the decision to support the U.S.-led 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Critics have lampooned the book's title and the solemn portrait of Blair on the jacket sleeve.

Conservative Party activist Iain Dale says the book looks like "the memoirs of a has-been soap star."
