Beyonce announces father is no longer her manager
(CBS/AP) Beyonce's father is no longer her manager.
The singer said in a statement that the decision to part ways professionally was mutual and amicable.
Pictures: Beyonce"I've only parted ways with my father on a business level," she said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me."
Mathew Knowles said his daughter's decision was part of her growing up.
"We did great things together, and I know that she will continue to conquer new territories in music and entertainment," he said in a separate statement. "Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all that she has achieved. I look forward to her continued great success."
In an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday, Knowles called his daughter a "very, very smart businesswoman."
He said now that she's on the verge of 30, it's natural that she wants to have more control over her businesses.
Beyonce announced Monday that her father would no longer manage her career. He had done so since she was a teen.
Knowles said he's got his hands full with his Music World Entertainment label and its burgeoning gospel roster.
However, he noted that he's manager for Destiny's Child. Although the trio officially "retired" a few years ago, Knowles said "hopefully" they'll reunite one day and tour.
