Better Internet Living, Thanks To The Webby's
You can now get your daily dose of digital tidbits courtesy of the Webby Awards. The people behind the "leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet" have now launched Netted.net. All you have to do is sign up by typing in your e-mail address to get one brilliant thing every day delivered to your inbox.
David-Michel Davies, the executive director of The Webby Awards, let me in on his newest net nugget. Here's my conversation with him:
Why did you start this service? The best thing about the Internet is that it makes so many things that use to be difficult, easy. Remember when you used to stand in line for movie tickets? Then came Fandango. Remember when you used to stay up until weird hours to make long distance calls? Then came Skype. There are literally thousands of little ways the Internet improves our lives, and we started Netted to have a place to share these sites, apps and Internet miracles with our readers each day. We call it "Better living through the Internet."
What types of brilliant things will we get?
Things that make life better! Today we featured Gazelle, a site that allows you to make money and be green by sending in your old electronics. Yesterday we featured TripKick, a site that tells you the best rooms in any given hotel (think Seatguru.com for Hotels).
Full disclosure: I've been a supporter, friend and colleague of The Webby's since I video blogged from their WebbyConnect Summit in August 2008. I also hosted the red carpet for the 2009 Webby Awards.
