Best DVDs For Spring
Daniel Holloway, film critic for Metro newspapers, discussed the most anticipated DVD releases for spring on The Early Show. As these picks show, there's something for everyone!
"The Wrestler"
"It's probably my favorite movie of the Oscar crop of movies that came out last year and I do think [best actor nominee] Mickey Rourke got robbed," says Holloway.
In his "comeback film," Rourke, plays - as his character describes it - "a broken down piece of meat of a man." He's a failed wrestler who is still running the circuit in the Northeast, playing at VFW's and convention halls.
Rourke's wrestler gets back in touch with his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood) and tries to restart their relationship at the same time that he's giving his career one last push.

Another Oscar nominee for best picture was directed by David Fincher ("Fight Club") and stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. Holloway says Pitt is a big selling point for this "epic-like" film.
Pitt plays a character who is born an old man and ages in reverse, based on a story by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Holloway says the film's length - over 3 hours -- may have alienated some people at theatres. But, he says, with its amazing visuals, for which it won an Oscar, the film builds momentum and gets better as it goes on.

The comedy, starring Kevin James as a portly shopping mall security guard who tries to foil a bank heist, topped the box office for two straight weeks.
Holloway says the movie did so well at the box office for several reasons: "He's a mall cop. He's a fat man. He's funny."
The movie critic says part of the box office success was that "Mall Cop" was released in theatres in late January or early February - a time when few other movies came out.

Perfect for kids and the entire family, the movie stars Emma Roberts (niece of Julia Roberts) as an orphaned girl who, along with her brother, must find a home for their dog. They stumble upon an abandoned hotel and transform it into the perfect place for their pooch -- and other strays of the city.
