Best Bets: "Spider-Man," fireworks concerts, "Web Therapy"

(CBS News) Independence Day means fireworks on the big screen and this year is no exception.

The eagerly awaited "The Amazing Spider-Man" with Andrew Garfield as superhero Peter Parker and Emma Stone as his pre-Mary Jane girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, opens Tuesday.

The bar is high for this film; the 2007 "Spider-Man 3" movie earned $151.1 million in its opening weekend, beating out both "Spider-Man" ($114.8 million) and "Spider-Man 2" ($88.1 million). Only "Spider-Man 2" had an Independence Day opening; the other two opened on the first weekend in May.

It also will be under pressure to match the take of this season's mega hit , "Marvel's The Avengers" which took in about $200.3 million in its opening weekend in May.

Also opening this week are the 3-D documentary "Katy Perry: Part of Me," which chronicles the life of the Grammy-winning singer, and Oliver Stone's thriller "Savages," with Blake Lively and Tayor Kitsch. The Perry documentary opens today and "Savages" starts Friday.

DVD and Blu-ray releases Tuesday include 1968's "Barbarella," starring Jane Fonda and directed by her then-husband Roger Vadim.

On the small screen, look for a new season of "Web Therapy" with Lisa Kudrow as online therapist Fiona Wallice, starting tonight on Showtime. The PBS detective show from Britain, "Inspector Lewis," also begins its new season Sunday.

On the Fourth of July, music and TV overlap as holiday concerts in New York, Boston and Washington are broadcast nationwide. Tom Bergeron hosts "A Capital Fourth" on PBS from the lawn of the U.S. Capitol. It features performances by "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips, Megan Hilty of NBC's "Smash;" Matthew Broderick and Kelli O'Hara of Broadway musical's "Nice Work If You Can Get It," winner of "The Voice," Javier Colon, and country music star Josh Turner.

In Boston, featured performers include Jennifer Hudson, Keith Lockhart, Michael Chiklis and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney perform in New York at the Macy's Fireworks show, broadcast on NBC.

Tuesday also will see the release of new albums for Flo Rida ("Wild Ones"), will.i.am ("#willpower") and Chris Brown ("Fortune").

You might expect Rob Zombie's new release to be an album, but this week it's a book, "Lords of Salem." Also published Tuesday is "Gold" by "Little Bee" author Chris Cleve, and "Presumed Guilty: Casey Anthony: The Inside Story" by defense attorney Jose Baez with Peter Golenbock.
