Basketball dunk from 98 meters sets new world record

(CBS News) A group of young Australians who call themselves How Ridiculous set out to break the Guinness World Record for highest basketball shot -- and it looks like they made a slam dunk of it with this incredible shot from the observation deck of the 98-meter (321.5 feet) Euromast tower in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Check out their impressive feat in the video above.

And it only took them 62 tries! Which may sound like a lot, but it is most definitely not when you are talking about such great heights! Ninety minutes into the stunt, team member Kyle Nebel pulled off the trick (he broke the previous record of 67.89 meters, which was notably set by a member of How Ridiculous).

And for all those skeptics, trickery does not seem to be involved as the camera followed the ball the entire way down and into the basket (or so it seemed). A local government representative reportedly witnessed the record-breaking shot, though it still has to be verified by Guinness. Looks to me like it's just a formality at this point.
