Bartz to Fortune: Yahoo's board "f---ed me over"

Say this about recently-deposed Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz: She doesn't give a *&&@! about the company's board of directors, who she says earned its reputation for being a bunch of "doofuses."

In a delish interview with Fortune, Bartz verbally smacked around Yahoo's board, which she also said "f---ed me over." On Tuesday, Yahoo fired Bartz, bringing her 30-month tenure at the company to an abrupt end. Burning whatever bridges might have remained with Yahoo in her first interview since being booted, Bartz also offered the following observations about her former employer.

  • After calling board chairman Roy Bostock, she says he began reading a prepared statement to dismiss her. "I said, 'Roy, I think that's a script,'" adding, "'Why don't you have the balls to tell me yourself?'"
  • "The board was so spooked by being cast as the worst board in the country," Bartz says. "Now they're trying to show that they're not the doofuses that they are."

But at least Bartz can console herself with the $10 million severance package she received from the very same board.
