"Back to the Future" musical coming to Broadway?

(CBS) Fire up that DeLorean - a "Back to the Future" musical could be heading to Broadway.

The team behind the classic 1985 film is in early talks to bring a musical adaptation to the stage.

"Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale, and Alan Silvestri are in preliminary creative discussions," a rep for Zemeckis confirmed to Entertainment Weekly on Thursday.

Zemeckis directed all three of the "Back to the Future" movies, and co-wrote the films with Gale. Silvestri composed the trilogy's musical score.

The three "Back to the Future" films grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide, according to Deadline.
