Auburn's Cliff Ellis was voted College Basketball Coach of the Year by the U.S Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday. He will receive the Henry Iba Award.
Ellis coached Auburn (29-3) to its first Southeastern Conference championship since 1960, and into the NCAA tournament. Auburn plays Ohio State on Thursday in the South Regional in Knoxville, Tenn.
Ohio State's Jim O'Brien was second in the voting.
Ellis, in his 27th year as a head coach, has been at Auburn for five years. He coached at Clemson for 10 years, South Alabama for nine and Cumberland for three.
