Knox's attorney says that the 24-year-old "loves" Italy and would even like to go back to Perugia, where she was studying abroad when she was accused of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher, reports Italian wire service ANSA.

Her attorney, Carlo Dalla Vedova, said Knox may even return this year to testify as a defense witness for her parents who were charged with slandering the Perugia police, ANSA reported Tuesday.

Dalla Vedova told ABC News, "I hope they will be acquitted. They certainly didn't make any defamatory remarks when they repeated Amanda's statement to the press."

Knox finally returned to American soil in the fall of 2011. Her return came after her 2009 murder conviction was overturned on Oct. 3 amid doubts over DNA evidence. Her co-defendant, Italian Raffaele Sollecito, also was cleared of the 21-year-old Kercher's 2007 murder.
