Atlanta School Shooting: Suspect was student at middle school, official says

(CBS) ATLANTA - The suspect in a shooting that took place at the Price Middle School in southeast Atlanta Thursday is a student there, Stephen Alford, a spokesman for the Atlanta Public Schools, confirmed to CBS Atlanta.

Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos confirmed to the station that a 14-year-old student was shot in the head around 1:50p.m. outside the school and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in downtown Atlanta.

Campos said that the student was conscious, alert and breathing when taken to the hospital.

The second victim, a teacher, was treated for minor injuries at the scene. It is unclear if the teacher was actually shot, but was not taken to the hospital, the station reports.

Officials confirmed to CBS Atlanta the shooting suspect was taken into custody.

According to the station, no other students at the school were injured in the shooting. The school district was working to dismiss all the remaining students.
