At Gunpoint, Man Forces Girlfriend to Abortion Clinic, Say Ohio Cops

Ohio Man Forced Girlfriend to Get Abortion at Gunpoint, Say Cops
Dominic Holt-Reid (Franklin County Jail)

COLUMBUS, Ohio (CBS/AP) An expectant mother got a very unexpected surprise Wednesday, when her boyfriend forced her at gunpoint to drive to a health clinic because he wanted her to get an abortion, according to police.

Columbus police arrested 27-year-old Dominic Holt-Reid on kidnapping and concealed weapon charges, after he apparently became enraged with his girlfriend because she had refused to follow through with an abortion scheduled earlier that morning.

According to police, Holt-Reid pulled the handgun from the glove compartment of his girlfriend's car after they dropped off their 5-year-old son at school, and made her to drive to the clinic, reports CBS affiliate WBNS. Officers say they were notified by a clinic employee who received a note from the woman once inside.

Holt-Reid is being held in the Franklin County jail, and was due to appear in court Thursday.

Authorities say it wasn't immediately clear how far along the woman was in her pregnancy. She was not injured.
