Ariz. Man gets three months in prison for shooting his own car

(CBS/AP) KINGMAN, Ariz. - Have you ever had one of those awful days when your car won't start and then SWAT breaks down your door while you're napping? Of course you have.

An Arizona man, who accidentally sparked a police standoff after he shot his car when it wouldn't start, received a three month prison sentence Tuesday.

Lauriano Lawrence Lovato went out to his Camaro April 13 and when it wouldn't start, he fired two rounds through the windshield and into the dashboard, reports the Kingman Daily Miner.

Naturally. What else could he have done?

According to Lovato, he then went inside and fell asleep, the Daily Miner reports.

Neighbors called police, who upon arrival reportedly found shell casings on the ground. Not knowing what they were dealing with, police reportedly surrounded the house and called SWAT teams for back-up. SWAT eventually forced their way inside the home and found Lovato on a couch, reports the Daily Miner.

Lavato reportedly claimed he hadn't realized he was part of a police stand-off.

He pleaded guilty to one count of discharging a gun unlawfully within city limits and was sentenced to three years probation and 90 days jail time.
