Aretha Franklin to receive music icon honor at TV Land Awards

(CBS News) Aretha Franklin will receive the music icon honor at the upcoming TV Land Awards. The 69-year-old songstress will be honored at the April 14 awards show in New York, which will air April 29 on TV Land.

Kelly Ripa will host the 10th anniversary of the TV Land Awards. More honorees will be announced soon.

The TV Land Awards pays tribute to classic and contemporary TV, music and movies stars. The 90-minute telecast will feature musical performances and will reunite celebrity TV casts.

Franklin recently made headlinesfor missing the funeral for her goddaughter, Whitney Houston.

In January, Franklin called off her wedding to longtime friend, William "Willie" Wickerson.
