Archuleta's Dad Enters Plea In Prostitution Case

The father of last year's "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta (ar-choo-LET'-ah) has pleaded no contest to patronizing a prostitute in a Salt Lake City suburb.

If the 47-year-old James Jeffrey Archuleta avoids repeating the crime by the end of this month, the charge will be removed from his record.

Midvale police Sgt. John Salazar says Archuleta was cited Jan. 14 at a massage parlor. Officers were investigating a complaint from a neighboring doctor's office about scantily clad women at the business.

Court records show Archuleta, who goes by Jeff, pleaded no contest on Jan. 30. He also paid a $582 fine and completed a counseling class.

His attorney, Erik Bauer, did not immediately return a call for comment on Thursday.
