Authorities believe April Wyckoff, 43, was killed in Union Township, N.J., on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. CBS New York

(CBS/AP) UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Authorities are using search dogs in Liberty State Park hoping to locate the body of a New Jersey woman who they say was killed in Union Township, according to CBS New York.

Authorities believe 43-year-old Matthew Ballister III killed 43-year-old April Wyckoff of Cranford at his home sometime on Tuesday evening.

Ballister has been charged with murder and is being held on a $2 million bail.

Investigators reportedly said there is no doubt a murder took place but are still trying to locate the victim's body. Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said Wyckoff died of  blunt force trauma.

Ballister's mother, Eleanor Schofield, is accused of interfering with the investigation. Authorities say she attempted to assist in his effort to conceal evidence of the crime.

Diane Schenesky,  Wyckoff's mother, told CBS New York that she had never met Ballister, but that he and her daughter had an on-and-off relationship for years.

Authorities are looking for anyone who may have had contact with Ballister or his mother between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Investigators are also looking Ballister's missing SUV and said the case will proceed with or without the body, reports the station.
