Apple iPhone 5 rumors: New dock connector, fall release date
Citing a source close to retailers, The Telegraph reported that the 8 gigabyte version of the iPhone 4 will be the entry-level iPhone, once Apple has releases the new iPhone.
Apple is widely expected to launch the iPhone 5 on Sept. 12 at a press event in San Francisco.
The news may not come as a surprise to those who are familiar with Apple's product release timeline. Apple dropped support for the iPhone 3G in October 2011, when the mobile operating system iOS 5 was released with the iPhone 4S.
Of course, Apple does not comment on rumors, so anxious fans will have to wait until Wednesday to get some answers.
The iPhone 3G was released in 2008. It was preceded by the original iPhone and followed by the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3G was considered a major upgrade because it included GPS, landscape mode and 3G support.
