Anti-War Group Launches Summer Campaign

Promising their own "surge" of activism, a coalition of anti-war groups launched an "Iraq Summer" campaign today, vowing to pressure selected Republican lawmakers to end their support for the war.

"This is a surge…that will separate President Bush from his Republican supporters in Congress who are on the verge of voting against this war," said Brad Woodhouse, a campaign organizer.

The summer campaign will target nine senators and 31 representatives in 15 states.

Organizers said the campaign will include "classic lobbying," targeted media buys and the distribution of 15,000 yard signs and 15,000 bumper stickers expressing opposition to the war.
