Another proposal video strikes again, I weep at my desk like a baby

(CBS) - I was surfing Jezebel this afternoon. I saw the headline: "This Sweet Video Will Make You a Little Misty." I like to tackle these claims. I label myself a "tough chick" -- it takes a lot to make me tear up. Challenge accepted: go ahead, viral proposal video, make me cry.

And guess what, I did. I wept like a baby... at my desk, in my office, with co-workers in plain sight probably wondering what's wrong with me.

Full disclosure: I met John (guy in this video) about three years ago on a social networking site. We never dated or anything, we just became fast friends -- in the virtual sense. We'd IM each other in between horrendous dates and failed relationships. We made each other our disgruntled-dater sounding boards. He would even console me after mean men would break my heart. (He always told me I was a catch and should settle for nothing less than awesome.) I always knew he was such a sap.

Fast forward two years later, and we've lost touch. We've barely spoken much. Judging by his Facebook status updates and photo uploads, all I knew about his whereabouts is that he was busy and in love.

It's funny how quickly a couple of years can pass you by. I guess that's the message of this video -- time is such a beautiful thing.

Instead of calling John upon realizing this is his proposal video, I took to Facebook. I shared the link and directed the post with an @: "John is this you?!" Within minutes, he responded, "Ha -- that is me! I think life has a funny way of working out. It seems like just yesterday we were not meeting up for coffee."
