Another Company That's on a Hiring Spree

Yesterday, I posted an image gallery of seven companies that are on hiring sprees. It's based on some research by jobs site CareerBuilder, which culled through its job postings and came up with a group of companies that are each looking to hire at least a couple of hundred people, and in some cases well over a thousand. I narrowed the list to focus on those with lots of opportunities for professionals.

The seven companies in the gallery are looking to hire a total of just under 7,000 people. They are all headquartered in the U.S., but between them could offer you a posting just about anywhere around the globe. While there are lots of tech and finance openings available, these companies are also looking for marketing people, sales pros, and a whole host of other professionals. They ranged from entry-level jobs and the occasional internship to vice presidents. To learn more about those seven companies, and the kinds of skills they're looking for, click here.
Another company that's growing
Now, Intuit says it would like to be added to the list, and why not? After seeing yesterday's gallery, Kelly Landers, of Intuit's public relations team, emailed to let me know that Intuit is looking to hire about 700 people for its product development and technical departments, plus hundreds more to help the company get through tax season. Following the format used in the image gallery, here's the run-down on Intuit:

Number of positions: 1500+

Type of positions: There are about 750 full-time jobs. For those, Intuit is mainly looking for folks who are good at C++, Ruby on Rails, mobile, social networking, and user development interface. There are also about 100 co-op or intern positions. In addition, the company is looking to hire tax agents and accounting pros to help it get through tax season. These are seasonal, work remotely-from-home positions.

Location: Headquarters is in Mountain View, Calif. The full-time positions are mostly in Mountain View and San Diego, but there are openings in Englewood, Colorado, Fredericksburg, Virginia, Plano, Texas, Tuscon, Waltham, Massachusetts, and Westlake Village and Woodland Hills, both in California.

Intuit is probably best known as the maker of Quicken and QuickBooks, but they also have tons of other services for their small business customers, such as online payroll, payments processing, and Web site development.

Why you might consider it: Intuit has made Fortune's 100 Best Places to Work List ten years running; it's also been named Fortune's Most Admired Software Company and was one of four companies on the West Coast named to ComputerWorld's 100 Best Places to Work in IT. The company has also been given the Freedom Award, which is the government's highest award given to companies that show outstanding support of employees who also serve in the Reserves or National Guard.

You could argue that anyone with the skills Intuit is looking for probably doesn't need to be told about job openings--in Silicon Valley, the tech folks probably have recruiters beating down their door. But you never know.

Does your company have hundreds or even thousands of openings? Please let me know!
