Anne Hathaway to Play Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises"

NEW YORK (CBS) Anne Hathaway will be sharpening her claws in the next Batman movie.

Warner Bros. announced in a press release Wednesday that the actress as been cast as Selina Kyle, whose alter-ego is Catwoman, in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises."

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story," Nolan said in the statement.

It was also announced that Tom Hardy ("Inception") will play the villain Bane.

Nolan said of Hardy, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman's most formidable enemies."

Christian Bale will reprise is role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film, slated for release on July 20, 2012.
