"Anger Management" sets ratings record for cable comedies

(CBS News) Charlie Sheen and FX shouldn't be angry about the ratings for "Anger Management."

The former "Two and a Half Men" star's new series set a ratings record with its two-episode debut on Thursday night, making it the most-watched scripted comedy primetime series premiere in cable history.

The first half-hour episode of the show drew in 5.47 million viewers, according to figures from Nielsen. The numbers improved for the second episode, which posted 5.74 million total viewers. Those numbers also make it the most-watched series premiere in FX history.

The network's other Thursday night shows also saw a ratings boost. "Wilfred" rose 71 percent in total viewers for its season-two premiere, while Louis C.K.'s "Louis" rose 55 percent in its third-season debut. According to the Hollywood Reporter, those shows drew 2.53 and 1.43 million total viewers, respectively.

Russell Brand's late-night show, "BrandX," earned 1.1 million viewers for its series debut.
